A few years ago, a team of partners broke away from a large international law firm (tier 1 for shipping and aviation) to form their own firm. With a loyal following of high calibre clients, this small but mighty team of partners set to work on creating an environment that was the polar opposite of the world they left behind. With a team now consisting of approximately 30 lawyers and stunning offices in the heart of the City of London, the firm is keen to grow and hire a like-minded individual to join their team.
Implementing a flexible working scheme where you are encouraged to work from home as often as you like, the team has seen firsthand how this has created a happier and less stressful work environment. They also place a lot of stock on emotional intelligence and endeavour to hire individuals who have this trait in abundance. They have also reduced the targets commonly seen at larger firms with the hope of creating a more manageable and less competitive working environment.
This firm is aware of the factors which blight the industry and are implementing change in order to reduce and eventually eradicate many of these commonly found issues. The firm I am assisting is by no means a holistic retreat, but they are aware of the pitfalls of the profession and are doing everything they can to change things, which to me is a big step in the right direction.
We are looking for lawyers who have been at recognised firms and can ideally bring a practice with them or have the potential to develop one. Individuals who have a shipping, aviation, (re)insurance, commodities, energy, property, mining, space or a construction background are encouraged to get in apply for the position.
